The University of Notre Dame was having issues engaging its alumni. They realized that if they could create communication with this donor base, their collecting potential was not being reached. The university looked to [GiveSmart] to offer a solution. 


Notre Dame used text messages to engage alumni during the holiday season. They launched a 28 Days of Peace campaign around advent to give alumni a meaningful activity each day of the holiday season. Participants received emails but could also sign up for text alerts by texting ND28days to 51555. Each day, alumni received a new activity on their cell phones. These texts reminded alumni of how much they enjoyed college and that they could help the current student base. 


This engagement campaign resulted in over 1,001 alumni joining the text message list. To this day, 844 of those remain committed to this engagement practice. This means that a retainment rate of over 83% was achieved!
