#GivingTuesday Ingredients for Sweet Fundraising Success

GiveSmart_Blog Header_960x380

This fall, we’re baking a cake full of ingredients aimed at fundraising success on #GivingTuesday for every organization involved. We know #GivingTuesday is worth the time and effort but how can we make sure your organization’s voice is heard before, during, and after the Global Day of Giving?

#GivingTuesday Ingredient List

Eggs = Fundraising, Events, and CRM Platform

Eggs in a cake recipe hold everything together. They’re your protein. For your organization, this is your fundraising, events, and CRM platform. Regardless of your plans for #GivingTuesday, ensure you have an adaptable platform with comprehensive fundraising and events features that can enable your success, and a database to hold all your donor information.

Sugar = Peer-to-Peer Networking

Your volunteers, board members, and supporters are the backbone of your organization. They make it sweet! They’re your champions, and if you take the time to ask and organize the campaign, they’ll be enabled to socially fundraise for your mission on #GivingTuesday. Whether you use peer-to-peer fundraising pages or create a voting campaign, you can get creative with your champions and incorporate their audiences into your own.

Butter = Storytelling

Butter makes anything delicious. To engage your donors and motivate them to give, start sharing stories NOW. Gather stories from staff, volunteers, board members, donors, and those that benefit from your mission. Tell your story and appeal to your audiences’ emotions to get them to give on #GivingTuesday.

Flour = Goals

Flour is the structure of your campaign. As we approach #GivingTuesday, break down your goals from top to bottom to help establish your plans, your timing, and the components needed to engage your donors.

Baking Soda = Social Media and Marketing

Your baking soda enables your dough to rise. For #GivingTuesday, your marketing efforts and social media building up to the day will only grow the audience available to you. Use all platforms and avenues available to tell your story and elevate your requests on #GivingTuesday.

Dash of Salt = Text-to-Give

A dash of salt is ALWAYS a good idea if you want to enhance the sweetness of your dessert. Adding text-to-give as an option for #GivingTuesday is a great way to enhance your reach and coordinate giving moments. Set reminders, target specific groups from past campaigns, and watch your revenue soar with just a few texts!

Flavor = Customized Forms

Personalize your campaign to your mission, just like you would flavor your cake with vanilla, chocolate, or other flavors! No matter your #GivingTuesday plans, adding customized forms provides your donors with the most basic giving options, including alternative payment methods (i.e., Google Pay and Apple Pay) and recurring giving.

Frosting = Donor Stewardship

Your frosting is the cherry on top of your campaign. Take the time to steward your donor relationships after #GivingTuesday to keep those relationships strong, share the impact to be made from the amounts raised, and thank them for all they do to support your organization.

For every ingredient of your fundraising cake this #GivingTuesday and beyond, GiveSmart is your best option for baking your campaign to success. Use GiveSmart’s comprehensive fundraising, events, and donor management features now and into the new year!

What our clients say

We needed a platform to make sales online and to track and display ads for our sponsors. GiveSmart was perfect. We ended up making close to $15,000 more than we had hoped for. Definite better ROI than we anticipated. The interface is easy to use and provides plenty of options to get help if needed.

Using GS has created ease in auction bookkeeping, payments, and generating post-event thank you/tax letters. While we were online during COVID, our interactions with our GiveSmart via phone, email, and zoom were seamless. A representative always got back to us within the day. I would recommend GiveSmart to anyone doing a large online event.

GiveSmart is highly flexible - you can use it for [a] simple registration and check-in, to full-scale galas with complex order forms, onsite upsells, live auctions, seating management, and more.

GiveSmart is easy to use and ideal for virtual events and can be used for in-person events to manage the silent auction, seating charts, and check-in to the event. Being able to use the platform for unlimited events within the contract year is very useful and being able to add other users and volunteers for different levels of access is helpful as well.
