5 Fundraising Campaigns to Honor our Military this Veterans Day
As Veterans Day approaches on November 11, many nonprofits who work directly with veterans are building campaigns to raise funds year-round to show their support.
Launching a Veterans Day campaign can be a great way to jump-start your year-end giving efforts ahead of #GivingTuesday and the last fundraising push of the year, all while honoring our heroes.
To celebrate this Veterans Day, let’s look at a handful of nonprofits doing excellent work to support veterans in their communities and why their campaigns are so special.
We are thrilled to share examples from both the Fundraise and Events parts of the GiveSmart platform. Feel free to get creative and think outside the box with whatever works best for your organization to succeed with fundraising!
Fundraise Examples:
Blue Angels Foundation’s General Donation Page
The Blue Angels Foundation general donation page is well-designed and mission-focused that features multiple calls to action, text-to-donate, and social media sharing.
American Legion’s 100 Miles for Hope
The American Legion 100 Miles for Hope challenge is a virtual fitness and wellness challenge for American Legion Family members and others that also raises critical funds for The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation. This peer-to-peer fundraising page has multiple calls to action, text-to-donate, and social media sharing.
Dogtopia’s peer-to-peer fundraising campaign
This highly successful peer-to-peer fundraising page links to all locations throughout the country, where volunteers can create their own pages to support Dogtopia’s mission. It features text-to-donate, social media sharing, and good doggos.
Events Examples:
Warren Spouses’ Club Boots & Baubles
This hybrid event supports the Warren Spouses’ Club’s scholarship programs and charitable giving in their community. Check out their event page for examples of an item donation form, hybrid silent auction, point of purchase sales, and more!
OCSC’s 6th Annual Scholarship Auction
This all virtual event was a combined effort of the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Officer and Civilian Spouses’ Club and Enlisted Spouses’ Club. It’s mission to raise college scholarship funds for military dependents, including high school seniors, current college students, and military spouses.
Check out their event page for a selfie scavenger hunt, voting competition, virtual auction, and more.
While all these campaigns may look different, their main objective is the same—to honor and support veterans in their communities. Take a minute to think about how your organization can honor our heroes with a fundraising campaign this Veterans Day!
