3 Steps To Create A Holiday Themed Campaign

With the end of the year comes a number of different holidays to celebrate. Whether it’s Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hannakuh, Christmas, or any other holiday you choose to celebrate, you can use the holidays as a way to create a themed campaign that is exciting for your audience.

Step 1: Choose A Theme

As a first step, determine which holiday your organization would like to celebrate. It’s important to find a way to build a connection between the theme of your campaign and the mission of your organization. For example, if your organization works with children, a Halloween theme could be a great way to incorporate the playful side of Halloween.

Additionally, if your organization provides tangible items to your beneficiaries, a good way to incorporate this would be during the giving season. If you are running a Toy Drive or providing meals as part of your holiday campaign, don’t forget to share those numbers directly with your audience. Sharing impact metrics with your donors makes it easy for them to connect with the cause which makes them more likely to give.

Step 2: Design Your Campaign

Now comes the fun part! Once you’ve determined your holiday theme, you can begin to modify the elements of your design to fit your new theme. Consider designing campaign logos with festive elements as well as incorporating themed background images to tie everything together. If you can, create short videos that can be included on campaign pages or shared online to help promote the campaign. Also, consider creating a branded text-to-donate keyword that fits your theme. That way, when you come to Step 3, your branded keyword will fit your overall theme!

This step really gives your organization the flexibility to get creative with your campaign and create online pages that are both fun and visually exciting for your audience. Don’t be afraid to get festive!

Here are some more examples of holiday themed campaigns:

Step 3: Share It Out

Now that your campaign is ready, it’s time to share it out. A multi-channel approach is always best to ensure that your campaign reaches the widest audience. Be sure to share your campaign out through all of your communication channels, including emails, social media, and text messages.

Also, while a large part of tying in a holiday to your campaign is to capture your audience’s attention, you can also use holiday fundraisers strategically towards your advantage. Use the holidays to help build a sense of urgency to encourage your supporters to give. Create campaign timelines and deadlines based off of the actual date of the holiday so that donors are encouraged to give in the moment.

No matter what holiday it is, think about your upcoming campaigns and events to see if there is the opportunity to incorporate a holiday theme and how you can use it to boost the impact of your mission and capture your audience’s attention!

Using GS has created ease in auction bookkeeping, payments, and generating post-event thank you/tax letters. While we were online during COVID, our interactions with our GiveSmart via phone, email, and zoom were seamless. A representative always got back to us within the day. I would recommend GiveSmart to anyone doing a large online event.

GiveSmart is easy to use and ideal for virtual events and can be used for in-person events to manage the silent auction, seating charts, and check-in to the event. Being able to use the platform for unlimited events within the contract year is very useful and being able to add other users and volunteers for different levels of access is helpful as well.
