100 Black Men of DeKalb County Inc. needed new ways to engage donors for their flagship program, The Leadership Academy, and its annual Scholarship Gala. The organization was curious about new technologies available to help them reach their fundraising goals and how they could better connect with the support they knew to be present within their community.

Together with [GiveSmart], they set up and implemented digital and mobile capabilities. Weekly internal committee meetings provided the knowledge and strategy necessary for planning the event and the peace of mind needed for a smooth event on the day. The usage of a live event thermometer was the highlight of their fundraiser and showcased donors’ names for a more ‘in the moment’ celebration.

Impact

[GiveSmart] supported the Leadership Academy Scholarship Gala event’s success and helped increase 100 Black Men of DeKalb County’s overall reach and engagement to make a real difference for their organization. They raised $23,353 from 113 donors, with the average gift size being $238.

The mission of the 100 Black Men of DeKalb County is to improve the quality of life in the Georgia community and enhance education and economic opportunities for all African-Americans. The 100 Black Men of DeKalb County was formed in 1992 by 14 businessmen from DeKalb County. The men wanted an organization in their community where they could devote their time and resources.
