Thomas was introduced to GiveSmart™ in 2012 when attending a charity event in the UK.
Inspired by the industry leading technology, the exceptional customer service and the focus on helping charities maximise fundraising revenue Thomas accepted the invitation to become the principal investor in GiveSmart™ and set about creating today’s GiveSmart™ group. In addition to this investment and his role as Chairman and CEO of GiveSmart™ Thomas manages the Ancora Finance Group which represents his privately owned set of activities in specialist consulting and alternative asset investing.
Until 2010 Thomas held the positions of Chairman and CEO of Allianz Capital Partners and Managing Director Allianz Alternative Assets Holding, companies responsible for the alternative asset activity of the Allianz Group. Thomas joined Allianz in 1998 from Goldman Sachs International where he was an Executive Director in the investment banking and principal investment area.
Prior to Goldman Sachs Thomas held various senior positions as a senior manager and CFO of international financial services companies.
During his career Thomas also served as a Board Member and then Chairman of the German Private Equity and Venture Capital Association e.V. (BVK), where he is still today a member of the advisory board.
Thomas was a member of the Advisory Board for Environmental Technology of the German Ministry of the Environment and served as an observer in the EU Commission’s Alternative Investment Funds Expert Group, established to advise on the future regulation of the alternative investment industry.
Thomas holds various board and advisory positions with private and public companies. Thomas studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at The Queen’s College, Oxford (M.A. Oxon)
